POST-16 POLICY UPDATE 2023-2026: WHAT DO HEADS OF SIXTH FORM NEED TO KNOW?
Kevin Gilmartin, Post 16 specialist, ASCL
We have asked Kevin back for another really informative briefing given, so much is happening at post 16!
Topics include changes to inspection framework, 'English Bacc', maths to 18, Defunding and possible Labour Party policy for post 16 and defunding.
The content will be guided by the latest announcements as we get close to the conference date and will reflect the thinking of not just the government but also Labour Party policy so that delegates can get a picture of where there could be policy shifts and where there might not be any significant shift at all - in the situation of there being a change of government after the next election.

CARING CONNECTION AND CRIPPLING CONTROL
PJ Livett: Founder of rePHRASE
As a Relationships And Sex Educator, speaking and delivering workshops around the country I have seen that for young people especially, it can be hard to discern the difference between when a relationship changes from healthy to unhealthy, or even abusive.
Unhealthy/Abusive relationships don't start out as abusive…the changes might be subtle so understanding the behaviours that may point to an unhealthy / abusive relationship is key.
From working with teens to domestic abuse survivors, I will share key elements that help empower, inform and safeguard young people so they can be physically and emotionally safe when it comes to their own experiences of sex and relationships.
ENRICHING THE CURRICULUM AND SUPPORTING PROGRESSION
Speaker: Rob Cullis, Director, Channel Talent
Rob will share how schools and colleges can involve their students
in free online interactive and live curricular and supercurricular events
Channel Talent runs involving a wide range of UK universities.
Delegates will explore the benefits of engaging students from different
schools across the country in live events with respect to enrichment,
inspiration, motivation and skills development: a great way to help students
develop academic endeavour.
Not only will getting your students involved (all totally free!)
support them with content for their personal statements and help prepare them
for university but also students will get the opportunity to go into depth on
key topics which can support their performance in their various post-16
Many more sessions to be added
