Whether a student’s dream is to be a leader in business, a pioneer in computer science, a life-changing teacher or an advocate for improved health and social care, Liverpool Hope has a dedicated careers team to support them all the way.

We know how important the future is to our students and so we offer support from the day they start at Hope, so that they gain employability skills alongside academic success.

We provide a one-to-one advice service to ensure that students get the support they deserve. Our experts can help with a wide range of topics from supporting long term goals or further study to short term practicalities, like part time work or a new CV.

At Liverpool Hope, students have access to My Careers Centre which is full of resources to help them plan and achieve their career goals. They can also build a CV, search for jobs and book onto our events.

Placement Years and the Placement and Internship Programme (PIP)
We offer all students the opportunity to add a placement year to their degree. We also work with a range of organisations to offer internship and placement opportunities. Getting hands-on experience gives students unique insights into a career and valuable experience when applying for jobs or further study.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Service and Leadership Award
We encourage students to do something that makes them stand out and have fun in the process. Students can push themselves with DofE or give something back with SALA. We can offer all three DofE awards using our North Wales outdoor centre, Plas Caerdeon.

Part-Time Work on Campus
We have a variety of jobs on campus that are exclusively for Liverpool Hope students. Students can work up to 10 hours a week on campus to support themselves whilst they study, gain experience in the workplace and meet new people.

Alumni Support
Liverpool Hope graduates can access everything we offer for up to three years after graduation. This helps students build sustainable success so that they can thrive in the long-term.

Starting university is the beginning of a new and exciting phase in a students life and we are here to support and guide them from the moment they arrive until after they graduate. Our Student Support and Wellbeing team are on hand to offer advice and help with everything from financial support to careers advice and health concerns. They provide a one-stop service and will address all aspects of your pastoral care in an integrated way, without passing students between different departments.

Learning Support
We endeavor to ensure equality of educational opportunity across our diverse student community. The University will take reasonable steps to ensure that the general need for access and the specific requirements of individuals with additional needs are addressed. The Learning Support Team works with disabled students in order to minimise any potential disadvantage they may face because of their disability.

Mental Health and Wellbeing
University life can be very demanding at times and adjusting to a new environment can be difficult for some. Stress factors such as moving away from home, academic demands and financial worries can all impact on students’ mental wellbeing. We provide support for anyone who is experiencing any form of mental health difficulty, with a daily drop-in service, offering brief consultation sessions of around 15-20 minutes. The well-being drop-in sessions take place from 12 - 2pm, Monday to Friday (during term-time).

Counselling
We provide a professional and confidential student counselling service to help students with any personal issues that may be affecting their studies, self-esteem, relationships and emotional or general feelings of well-being.

Accommodation
Whether a first year undergraduate student, a PGCE or postgraduate student, or a student joining us from an international partner for a semester/year, we have a range of halls available.

Student Finance
The Student Finance team is based in the Gateway to Hope building at Hope Park. The office is generally open from 9am until 5pm and we have a highly experienced team who can help and advise in all areas of student finance. Students can arrange one to one meetings to discuss any financial issues they may have or encounter.

New Hope research lifts lid on football injuries

Football clubs are failing to factor in fixture congestion when it comes to the intensity of weekly training sessions, new Liverpool Hope University research has suggested. And it could be putting players at risk of injury, particularly in the lower leagues.

A team of experts from Hope examined a group of semi-professional footballers in England over the course of a full 33 week season.Through GPS tracking data the Hope academics analysed the players ‘training load’ - including duration, distance run, high speed distance covered and acceleration.

Using Artificial Intelligence to overhaul the way we recycle

Cutting-edge artificial intelligence could help revolutionise the way the UK recycles its rubbish, according to new research. A new low cost sorting system is being developed by academics at Liverpool Hope University, who say it could reduce the amount of solid waste going to landfills.

Rather than recycling centres having to rely on humans to manually sift through items, the new approach sees a ‘Computer Vision’ camera-based system trained to identify every household object on a conveyor belt, which would then instruct robots to sort the materials in front of them.
