Transport Management

We are celebrating 50 years of teaching Transport at Aston! We are currently the only UK institution to offer a dedicated transport management degree, BSc Transport Management, and a BSc Transport Planning degree apprenticeship, which was launched in 2019. During the past five decades, our courses have produced graduates equipped with the skills, knowledge and experience needed across the transport sector.

Nursing

At Aston you’ll learn in an inter-professional way, developing the theoretical and practical skills you’ll need to be able to register as a nurse, specialising in adult care. You will spend 50% of your study time in practice, which will be undertaken in various clinical environments.

Logistics and Supply Chain Management

Have you ever thought about how events like Glastonbury or the Olympic Games happen and all the people involved to make them a success? Without people working in logistics, these events simply wouldn’t happen, as all the goods and products need to be produced and transported to the right place at the right time. Our course will show you how logistics and supply chains are crucial to our world and give you the skills to work with partners and suppliers, streamlining business operations and increasing access to international markets.

Business Enterprise Development

The BSc Business Enterprise Development degree aims to give you the best start to learning about how to develop, sustain and grow a business. It has been adapted by the globally renowned Team Academy model of entrepreneurship education from Finland, and built on the following principles: • Develop your entrepreneurial capacity and mindset through learning-by-doing. • Experience the development of a real business that you own with a team of others. • Determine your own learning focus and needs, supported by team coaches who are there to guide and help you develop.

Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is the professional practice of designing and developing infrastructure projects, which includes planning, budgeting, surveying and construction management. This course examines the societal, economic and operational issues related to construction. It’s designed to be contemporary and innovative, meeting the needs of industry.

Chemistry

Our course will provide you with a fundamental understanding of Chemistry and equip you with the technical and scientific skills to work in exciting and groundbreaking areas of cutting-edge research and industry. You also have the opportunity to carry out a 12 month industrial placement before your final academic year.

Employability and careers modules are embedded into the curriculum at Aston, so students are able to start developing themselves from day 1. We offer each student the opportunity to undertake a placement year, with many options available. Student can take a year abroad, work in industry, set up their own business, volunteer or undertake further study in this year, or, do a mix of all these options. Over 70% of students undertake a placement year at Aston.

Aston University graduates first new doctors from its medical school

Aston University’s first cohort of medical students graduated at a ceremony held at Eastside Rooms next to the Aston University campus in Birmingham today, Friday 21 July 2023.

Aston Medical School welcomed its first students in 2018 and today has graduated 56 new doctors. This follows the GMC Council’s decision in May 2023 to grant full approval to the school, meaning that Aston University can now award its own primary medical qualifications.
