Edge Hill University celebrates top 35 placing in Guardian rankings

Edge Hill University is celebrating its highest-ever position of 35th in the 2024 Guardian University Guide.

This year’s result is the first time the University has reached the top third of the annual league table, which judges criteria including student satisfaction and spend per student.

Edge Hill unveils plans for £35m campus development

Edge Hill University has unveiled plans for a further £35m development, significantly enhancing the student experience at its Ormskirk campus.

The largest element of the new plans is for 232 residential rooms, costing £23.6m and standing on the site of the former Back Halls. With campus life being so important at Edge Hill University, demand for on-site accommodation has continued to rise in recent years.

Research into student preferences shows ensuite rooms being the number one priority when choosing preferences, something which has been factored into the design of the new offer.

Edge Hill Ofsted "Outstanding" in all three initial teacher training age phases

Edge Hill University has become the only higher education institution (HEI) in England to be rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted across all three initial teacher training age phases.

The University was awarded the highest grade for ‘overall effectiveness’ across primary, secondary, and further education and training – inspectors judged the quality of education, and leadership and management to be outstanding.

The sector-leading news recognises the commitment of Edge Hill – the largest Initial Teacher Education (ITE) provider in the North West – to deliver the highest quality education and support for its trainee teachers.

The glowing report stated that “trainees at Edge Hill flourish”.
